Maybe I'm a bit too sappy today, or maybe I've been at home for far too long. I need to go out.
Almost everytime I tell my relatives, friends or even parents I in a multimedia course, I'd always receive that blank stare. Not so much of not knowing what the course does, or rather is it of any use in the real world. Normally I'd shrug it off, saying Singapore has lots in store for the multimedia sector. Truth is, I'm not even sure of it myself. I don't have big bombastic names like "bio-blahblah" or "electric-blahblah" to give a punch to my introduction. Instead I have a name that rarely appears in any of Singapore's success list. Some of my friends consider of doing a completely different thing the moment they graduate, making this Poly life a complete waste, which is true to a certain extent. Anybody could learn these skills given a month or so of intensive training, so what makes us so special from them? I can tell you our work isnt half as good as those who spend their time entirely on one area of our diverse modules. This is one part of my life I'm not proud being diverse of.
You may call me an emo and I'm sure a few of you will the moment they read the first paragraph but I'll post one question to my classmates. Ok maybe a few questions. What do you see yourself in 5, 10, 20 years? Are you still going to fumble through photoshop, trying to crop out or covering someone else's pimple using a paintbrush with opacity 0%? Are you going to live through life seeing almost every other person be more successful than you? Grrr most of these questions are not even valid, god knows why I am wasting my time.
That being said, I still need to go out or else you'd be seeing more of these wannabe-philosophical theories on how our future should be. Someone save me.
